‘Moment’ - A moment in time, Tudweiliog and its community. Spring 2026. by Anna Higson at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw.
‘Moment’ is artist Anna Higson’s response to the work of photojournalist Geoff Charles, whose photographs documented rural life in Wales between the 1930s and the 1970s.
This commission was made possible through funding from the Welsh Government’s CELF project, which has led to the formation of a network of galleries aimed at bringing Wales’s contemporary art collection out into the community.

Currently, an exhibition featuring images from the vast Geoff Charles collection held at the National Library of Wales -alongside a screening of the film ‘Yr Etifeddiaeth’ (The Heritage), created with John Roberts Williams in 1949 - is being held at the Plas, supported by the CELF initiative.
While working on the commission, Anna visited the National Library in Aberystwyth and watched ‘Yr Etifeddiaeth’ before creating this special work, focusing on the rural community of Tudweiliog on the northern coast of the Llŷn Peninsula.

Based in Boduan, near Pwllheli, Anna is a multidisciplinary artist who has developed a deep admiration for her local community over the years - an appreciation nurtured by her numerous travels in Mexico.
“I have drawn deep inspiration from communities, vibrant traditions, and carnivals in Mexico during the years I have spent travelling there. I am fascinated by the intersection of these Mexican influences with the stories and significant figures of my own community,” she explained.
