Ebbw Vale
BURRA, Edward
© Edward Burra/Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales
Artist Edward Burra was diagnosed with chronic arthritis as a teenager. Finding oil paints too heavy, he worked exclusively with watercolours instead.
Through his manipulation of the paints, Burra drew out vibrant colours and breathed new life into a medium that was often seen as old-fashioned.
This work situates the Ebbw Vale steelworks within a surreal and sprawling landscape.
