Horse and rider
Figure of a horse and female rider, buff coloured earthenware, the horse standing on a rectangular slab base, both horse and rider realistically modelled, the horse with cropped tail and open mouth, the rider with right hand tucked into her garment or perhaps holding reins in a raised position, her left arm hanging by her side, wearing a top-knot and close-fitting garments, sitting on a saddle with high pommel and wide underblanket; the model has suffered extensive losses to the slip and glaze, where it remains, the horse has a cream coloured slip with large patches of brown glaze each side of its hindquarters and on its right forequarter, the tounge bears traces of red slip, a bridle, reins, saddle straps and harnessings in black slip, the rider has a cream slip to its face and hands, with facial features in black and red, with traces of brown/black hair, the garment is decorated in green glaze, and the saddle and underblanket in brown.
