The Lovers
POOLE, George
In 2018, the Museum acquired seven works by George Poole, an artist overlooked in Welsh art history. Poole felt conflicted working with art institutions and was wary of their power. Drawing inspiration from industrial Welsh towns, he presents an unembellished view of working life. Here, the lovers are allowed to turn their back on us; the valley stretches out freely before them.
