The Wrestler
The Wrestler 'was originally modelled in plaster by Gaudier-Brzeska in 1912. This work is one of five casts (two in lead and three in bronze) from the original plaster. Before making the sculpture Gaudier-Brzeska sketched wrestlers in action. The way the figure's body is modelled shows a progression from his earlier admiration for Rodin's figure sculpture.
