"Calypso"
AYRES, Gillian
© Estate of Gillian Ayres/Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales
How does Calypso make you feel? Ayres’s painting style appeals to our senses and emotions, a riot of vivid colour and expressive, tactile paint. It was painted during the artist’s time living on the Lleyn Peninsula in north Wales. This incredible landscape inspired her painting to even greater joyfulness and energy.
