Stranger VI
CHADWICK, Lynn
© Lynn Chadwick/Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales
This winged figure has both human and bird-like characteristics. With its wings outstretched it suggests a sentinel or guarding figure. But is it protective or threatening? Chadwick made his sculptures by welding iron rods. For 'Stranger VI 'he added a cement compound to "fill out" the linear armature. This sculpture is the original model from which five copies were cast in bronze.
