YEATS, Jack Butler
© Estate of Jack B Yeats. All Rights Reserved. DACS 2024/Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales
The son of the Irish painter John Butler Yeats and brother of the celebrated poet W. B. Yeats, Jack Yeats was born in London. Initially a graphic artist and illustrator, he moved to Ireland in 1910 and turned to oil painting. The sharp colours and flickering, Expressionist technique of this rocky Irish coastal view are typical of his late style.
