Dog
GAUDIER-BRZESKA, Henri
© Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales
This sculpture of a dachshund has a simplified, almost Cubist appearance. It was cast from the original marble carving. Gaudier-Brzeska travelled widely across Europe, living in Cardiff between 1908 -1909. He worked as a shipping clerk in the Docks. While living in the City he drew birds in Victoria Park and cased specimens in the old Cardiff Museum.
