Politics, Protest & Activism

An integral part of our society, politics, protest and activism can bring us together and tear us apart. We all have an opinion on what’s happening around us and we often look for ways to celebrate it, or to fight against it. Notable people, current or historical events, our sense of justice, and equality as well as other aspects of our lives can shape our opinions and beliefs.

From expressing views and challenging the status quo, to raising awareness and influencing policy, we can all make an impact on the world in which we live. Public opinion can change and adapt over time; which elements of society today will look different in the future?

The selection of works below explores themes of Politics, Protest and Activism through the eyes of contemporary artists. How does politics influence art? And how can artists use art as a means of protesting and expressing their views?

Take a look at the selection below; how do these works challenge our perceptions of the world around us?
