LOWRY, L.S
While employed as a clerk and rent collector, Lowry received art lessons in Manchester and his native Salford. In 1915 he discovered the subjects for his famous out-of-door industrial scenes in the suburbs of Pendlebury in Swinton. Lowry became one of the most popular painters in Britain. This seascape is a typically monochromatic late work.
