Devotion after childbirth

GRIFFITH, Mignon F. Baldwin

© Mignon F. Baldwin Griffith/Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales
×

Born at Ruthin in North Wales, the artist studied at Liverpool, Chelsea and the Royal College of Art. After teaching at schools in Ruthin and Dover, she was appointed lecturer in the Department of Education at University College, Cardiff. Griffith rarely exhibited and her work is little known. This highly finished composition recalls fifteenth-century Italian frescoes and the religious paintings of Stanley Spencer.
