It was caused by a build-up of water in the accumulated rock and shale which suddenly started to slide downhill in the form of slurry. 1966.

Born in Yorkshire, John Selway has lived in Wales for 65 years, where he has taught at Newport and Carmarthen colleges. One of the countrys finest painters, he is currently working on Another Eden, a series of responses to the poetry of Dylan Thomas. He lives in Abertillary.
