Cup, tea and saucer

Billingsley, William
We’re working on releasing this image.

Cup, very translucent paste with a lustrous glaze standing on a shallow broad foot rim, swelling sides and flaring lip; kidney-shaped handle. Saucer with flat, unglazed base and glaze flaws to the underside, no cup recess. Both cup and saucer are painted with three pink roses, each with a spray of leaves, and have a single broad gilt line at the cup foot and lip and at the saucer rim, `feather' gilding to cup handle.
