At the posthumous sale of his work in 1913, many of his greatest acquisitions were bought by Lord Leverhulme, which led to the foundation of tyhe Lady Lever Gallery, Port Sunlight. Examples of his collection are Millais's 'Sir Isumbras at the Ford', Leighton's 'Daphnephoria'; and the John Singer Sargent's 'On his holidays, Norway' in the LLG was modelled by Alex McCulloch, George McCulloch's son.
