Vase, buff stoneware, irregular ovoid form with slightly inset base closing in to a narrow opening that rises up at each side, the whole covered with white slip and large areas also with patchily applied brushed brown slip breaking to green, the buff body showing through in places.

GB. WALES. Aberfan, The Aberfan disaster was a catastrophic collapse of a colliery spoil in the Welsh village of Aberfan, on 21st October 1966, killing 116 children and 28 adults. It was caused by a build-up of water in the accumulated rock and shale, which suddenly started to slide downhill in the form of slurry. The Salvation Army are on hand with food. 1966.
