×

Born Lady Charlotte Lindsay, she married John Guest in 1833. When her husband later became ill she was increasingly involved in the management of the Dowlais Ironworks and ran it herself for three years following his death in 1852. She learned Welsh and is remembered today as the first translator of the Mabinogion.
