1899 - 1972 Apprenticed aged 13 to local potteries, before joining A J Wilkinson Royal Staffordhsire Potteries in 1916; trained in all aspects of pottery including design and modelling; under the tutelage of factory owner Colley Shorter, attended Sculpture course at Royal College of Art; went on to become Art Director of A J Wilkinson at age 31; devised Bizarre and Fantasque ranges, inspired by Cubism.
