Crouch Jar II

Stair, Julian

We’re working on releasing this image.

Large lidded jar, reduced etruria marl, unglazed, narrow circular base with straight tapering sides giving an overall conical form, four horizontal 'ribs' evenly spaced around the body with deliberately rough finish, resulting in small protrusions or 'scrapings' of fired clay around each rib, the cover is flat with three circular 'ribs' and a flange to the interior; the surface finished with linseed oil.

We have a duty of care to all our audiences. This website draws on legacy collections data. We recognise that some of this information may be outdated or discriminatory and we're currently working to review our records. If you have any questions or comments on an artwork, please contact us.
