Polluted pool at Maindee
CRABTREE, Jack
In 1974 Jack Crabtree won a commission from the National Coal Board to paint in the collieries for a year, and became known as the ‘coal mine artist’. This work, painted at Maindee in Newport, Gwent, looks at the industrial impact on the Welsh landscape and its people.
