Jar, red earthenware, globular with slightly out-turned foot ring and broad sloping and undercut rim, coated all over with a dark blue slip and clear glaze; decorated in gold lustre with a broad band of painted calligraphic marks round the body (misfired and dark on one side), plain bands round the foot and rim, below the neck a simple gold lustre line above a continuous band of half-ellipses.
