Welsh Landscape

POOLE, George

© George Poole/Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales
×

This is a sombre abstraction of the Welsh landscape. Brown and crimson oil markings sit above the horizon line, distinguishing themselves from the deep tones of the night sky. George Poole had an affinity with his origins in south Wales, regularly returning to paint in the valleys, even after his move to London.

This caption was written by Charles Obiri-Yeboah.
