Pot, coffee and cover

Coffee pot and cover, white earthenware body with a matt black glaze, the coffee pot is the 'Cylinder' shape, with inset base, tall cylindrical body, long upright spout issuing from the bottom of the body, the top of the handle is square and level with the rim, gently curving downards and attached to the lower third of the body, the cover with high flange and concave, steeply rising sides and a cylindrical knop; both sides of the body printed on the glaze in gold with the image of an elaborate, freeform phoenix.

<p>Amor-Perfeito vase made from the recreated recipe for the porcelain body of Nantgarw China Works and inspired by a plate by Nantgarw China Works with a floral motif. De Jesus used the pansy as decoration because of the derogatory queer connotations associated with the flower's name. However,the Portuguese translation of 'pansy' is Amor-Perfeito which means ‘perfect love’. This word has been added in white clay letters around the circumference of the vase.</p> <p>This piece was made to be part of the On Your Face Collective which is a social enterprise that highlights queer creatives in Wales, for the groups Queer Reflections exhibition in 2022 at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea.</p>
