Dish, dessert, centre

Swansea China Works (Factory)

Centre dish, dessert, soft-paste 'duck egg' porcelain; standing on a rectangular crenellated pedestal base, with curved, flaring sides to the dish; a shaped edge consisting of two concave curves to each side and indented corners; twig handles with raised foliate terminals; painted with set pattern 264; a stylised arrangemant of flowers in the centre, in iron red enamel, gilt and rich underglaze blue; a narrow underglaze blue and continuous gilt wheat ear border to lip, with red and blue scrolled stylised protrusions, interspersed with red flowers and pale underglaze blue, gilt edged winged leaves; four stylised leaf arrangements in red, blue and gilt on the underside of the dish; plain gilt band above foot rim, and gilt detail to the handles.
