"White is the greatest of colours and the most mundane of colours…" Taiwan-born Lin's precise, contemplative minimalism sought to balance Eastern aesthetic theory with the traditions of Western art. In 1971 he left London for rural mid-Wales, where Hers was painted, to live and work with detached self-sufficiency, like a Daoist recluse.
