GB. SCOTLAND. St Andrews, The Pier Walk is an ancient University tradition in which all students can take part. On Sundays (and some special occasions), students meet in St Salvators Quad before walking down to the harbour wearing their gowns the reason for this custom is lost in the mists of time! Gowns encouraged but not compulsory. 1967
