Cynhyrchodd Kokoschka nifer o dirluniau panoramig drwy 'lygad aderyn'. O wythfed llawr Gwesty'r Savoy rhwng 10 Mawrth a 28 Ebrill 1928 peintiodd olygfa i fyny ar hyd afon Tafwys ac mae'r gwaith hwn yn dangos yr olygfa i lawr ar hyd yr afon. Yn y tu blaen mae'r badau tynnu'n mynd o dan bont Waterloo, ac ar y chwith gwelir Glannau Tafwys o Somerset House hyd at y Ddinas ac Eglwys Sant Paul. Ganed Kokoschka yn Awstria a bu'n gweithio'n bennaf yn Fienna, Berlin, Dresden a Prague tan 1938, pan ddihangodd i Brydain.

Kokoschka produced many panoramic landscapes from 'bird's eye' viewpoints. From the eighth floor of the Savoy Hotel, between 10 March and 28 April 1928, he painted a view up the Thames, and this work depicting the view downstream. In the foreground tugs pass beneath Old Waterloo Bridge and at the left the Embankment curves past Somerset House to the City and St Paul's. Born in Austria, Kokoschka worked principally in Vienna, Berlin, Dresden and Prague until 1938 when he fled to Britain.
