Sculpture in cast optical glass, cube form with flat polished top, front and back faces, the other three faces deeply moulded and irregular, their matt surface coloured turquoise with oxides, air bubbles trapped in the glass just inside the moulded surface.

Creation/Production

Reid, Colin
Colin Reid was born in 1953 in Cheshire, England. He studied at St Martin's School of Art (1970-72) and Stourbridge School of Art (1978-81) where he received a First Class Honours Degree in 3D design (glass). He has also trained and worked in industry as a scientific glassblower (1975-77). He is now based in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Reid has had a large number of solo exhibitions worldwide (especially in Europe, Japan and USA). Recent commissions include work for the River Lune Millennium Park, Lancaster, Shanghai Library and the Museum of Scotland. His work is also represented in many public collections nationally and internationally, e.g. the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Crafts Council Collection, Ulster Museum, Corning Museum of Glass and Los Angeles County Museum (USA), Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art (Japan), Museum of Decorative Arts, Prague (Czech Republic).
