Last Punch of the Clock

GARNER, David

Last Punch of the Clock

  Zoom / More Images (3)

David Garner is known for his installation works of found objects which carry deep social and political resonance. Last Punch of the Clock takes the form of a clocking-in machine from a metal-working factory, where workers would clock in and out of their shift. Next to the machine stands a tall metal spike supporting a stack of the punch-hole cards, representing a lifetime of work.

The installation is a lament to the lost industry in south Wales and a tribute to the working life of his late father.
