Vase

Brett, Jackie

We’re working on releasing this image.

Vase of soft-paste porcelain, boat shaped form, standing on a parallel ridged base, curving and rising at either end, the body, slightly rounded with a double rib to lower edge, rising vertically and tapering towards the top, forming a semi-circle with two wide chevron shaped ribs at the shoulder, the open chevron shape repeated at the rim to form the shape of the mouth, interrupting the semi-circular form; the body moulded with incised and raised decoration consisting of signs, symbols, hieroglyphs and marks; light blue transparent glaze to the whole, a turquoise band to lower chevronrib at shoulder, two red bands to the upper, bordering a pattern of simple stick-type fir trees in silvery blue lustre.
