Baling Hay
DUNBAR, Evelyn Mary
© Evelyn Dunbar Estate/Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales
In January 1943 Dunbar, an official war artist, arrived in Usk to record the work of the Women’s Land Army (WLA). Baling Hay shows just one aspect of the crucial role of women during the Second World War. The WLA ensured continued food production for the British population at a time when imported supplies were severely compromised.
