Permanent steel sculptures installed in the grounds of Ruthin Craft Centre are the result of a collaboration between CELF the National contemporary art gallery for Wales, Ruthin Craft Centre and Artist/ Blacksmith Angharad Pearce Jones. It is the culmination of a year long period of research into the history of Ruthin, the site on which the craft centre stands and various works held in Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales’s contemporary art collection.
Angharad says of the project: “As an artist from the nearby town of Bala, it has been an honour to create something permanent for Ruthin Craft Centre, a centre of excellence for the Applied Arts. The initial period of research has meant that the sculptures are truly of and about Ruthin. I also hope that they connect with and celebrate all the wonderful exhibitions held at this gallery over the years”.
